François Dey - A car before the worse

For the penultimate DNK Days project presentation at San Serriffe we present A car before the worse, a project by Swiss artist and Amsterdam resident François Dey (1981).

François Dey spent 6 months of an 18 month period within the small mountain town of Leytron where he found a multitude of ways to integrate as an artist within a community not used to such a thing. When the locals start joking with you, you know you've been accepted to some degree, humour being an important currency in these parts. Intervening in the local environment, Dey attempted to relate to the local musical culture. Some of these experiences will be shared with us at San Serriffe.

François Dey studied electronic engineering at Fribourg University, photography at Schule für Künstlerische Fotografie, Vienna, later moving to Amsterdam to study fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and attending the Jan Van Eyck Acedemie in Maastricht. He is represented by Galerie van Gelder and his work has been exhibited throughout Europe, often including performative elements.
